Where can I get a cover or cushion for my sauna?

We appreciate your attention to care and comfort when using your Health Mate sauna. Covers and cushions for the majority of Health Mate sauna models can be purchased from Laguna Canvas.

We highly recommend using a cover if you are storing or using your sauna outdoors on a patio or in surroundings that are subject to weather. Ideally, you want to place your Health Mate sauna in a protected area, such as under an awning or overhang. While our saunas are designed primarily for indoor use, be aware of the proper outdoor placement.

Each Laguna Canvas product is made from high-quality, durable materials like those used for marine and boating products. Cushions are designed to enhance your comfort, and just like the sauna covers, are mold and mildew resistant. Because these items are sold from an outside vendor, they do not come under any Health Mate warranty or replacement coverage.

See our additional tips and suggestions for cleaning your sauna. To enjoy lasting use and proper operations, it’s important that you don’t use any harsh chemicals or cleaning products on sauna panels or benches.

We also recommend unplugging your sauna if you think you’ll discontinue use for an extended time.

How do I replace the infrared sauna reading light?

If your sauna requires 120-volts to operate, it can use a standard 120-volt light bulb, rated at 60 watts maximum. For infrared saunas that require 230-volts, a 60-watt bulb is also required. Any bulb with a voltage rating from 210 to 250 volts will work, as long as it is rated at 60-watts or less.

Do not attempt to replace a 230-volt bulb with a standard 120-volt light bulb. It will burn the bulb out immediately and possibly damage the power supply.

How do I maintain my sauna while I’m away for extended periods?

Going on vacation or simply taking a break from using your sauna? We recommend that you unplug it whenever you’ll be storing or not using your sauna for an extended period.

Additionally, you’ll want to protect your sauna from outdoor elements. Whether you’re storing it indoors or out, it’s a good idea to use a cover to reduce dust and dirt. This will also help prevent critters and insects from finding their way inside.

Health Mate prides itself in making quality saunas that last for decades, so make sure you have also registered your sauna for its warranty. Should you need replacement parts or repairs after returning to use the sauna, this will ensure you’ll have coverage on panels, heaters, and the controllers.

When you’re ready to resume enjoying your infrared sauna and all the benefits it offers, simply plug it back in. Once you do, set the time and temperature to their max settings to burn off any dust that has collected on the heaters, and run the sauna for an hour before use.

What are some sauna maintenance tips?

Health Mate® infrared saunas are simple to clean, and there is no regular updating required or parts to replace. The enclosed cabins generally keep out dust and dirt. For best sauna maintenance, treat it like a piece of fine furniture.

  • Because infrared saunas provide dry heat, the only thing to be aware of is moisture from perspiration. Use towels to wipe down the bench and underneath your feet.
  • If you still notice excess moisture after a session, simply wipe it off or crack the door or roof vent and keep the sauna running for a few minutes.
  • On occasion, you should wipe down your sauna exterior and interior. Use a moist towel dipped in a solution of water, a tablespoon of baking soda, and a few drops of high-quality essential oil such as tea tree, lavender, or lemon. Do not spray the cleaning solution directly onto the sauna surface. Avoid harsh chemicals.
  • For places where there is a frequent use, like clinics and spas, consider using waterproof cushions or pads for better sauna maintenance.
  • Use your vacuum hand attachment to clean dust or debris from your sauna.
  • Perspiration stains don’t affect your sauna’s performance. To remove perspiration stains, simply lightly sand the spot and wipe it down.
